Discovering Balkan cuisine in Warsaw

?>

One of the good things about Warsaw is…

the variety of cuisines that you can find here, and for me, being an international student, this is perfect because I always get to discover new things.
Today, I want to share with you my experience at Banjaluka.

Banjaluka serves Balkan cuisine, made on the spot and sometimes even prepared in front of you.

The place is quite big, but the atmosphere is very nice. The decoration is a mix of old and new objects, like a motorbike or old bottles, with big and small wooden tables so you can go with a large group. They have a stage where groups can come play on evenings.

The menu has a wide range of options, from burgers to home-made gnocchi, and a wide range of meats : lamb, beef, pork, that you can all try if you take the meat platter. Personally, I tried the gnocchis with a shrimps and squids in a butter-wine sauce, and it was really good. The burgers are also very big and very good, with home-made potatoes crisps. The plus number 1 : if you order a beef tartare, the chef comes to your table, chops it in front of you, and accommodate the meat according to your wishes with onions, mushrooms, mustard. At lunch time, they also have the today’s specials, with a soup, salad or home-made pancakes for example.

The prices are really correct for the size of the portions that you get, perfect for students!

And last and not least, the service is very good. The staff is friendly and gives good recommandations on the menu. The plus number 2 : one of the waitress even spoke some French, which does not happen a lot in Warsaw.

If you are willing to try something new, this place is perfect for you !
